WWE News: Psycho Sid Gets Punked at Independent Show

Gone Baby GoneJun 4, 2018

Sorry if this is old news to some, but I just found out about it and thought it was funny, so I decided to share.

Two weeks ago, "The Master and Ruler of the Universe" was slated to be a part of an indy show called Pro Wrestling Syndicate in New Jersey. The card had Sid in the main event taking on Matt Hardy for the first time ever.

This was a pretty big deal for the company, as they had been promoting this match for months heading into the event. Now according to Yahoo! Sports, Sid decided the morning of the show that he was unable to make it. This prompted the promoter to take the matter into his own hands.

The article states:

"

Sid called the promoter on the morning of the show, hours before the event was to take place, and back out of the event. Vicious claimed his wallet was stolen at the airport and he could not board the flight. Sid has a checkered history when it comes to showing up for independent wrestling events.

Rather than just let things slide off their back, the wrestling promoter for Pro Wrestling Syndicate told the 700 fans in attendance that their beloved hero Sid Vicious no-showed the occasion. The promoter then proceeded to call Sid, while standing in the center of the ring, and voiced his displeasure with a voicemail. The promoter even encouraged the patrons to deride Vicious on the voicemail. As if that was not enough, the promoter did not stop there. He then gave the 700 supporters in attendance Sid Eudy's cell phone number and encouraged to call and leave him a message. It was both brilliant and unprofessional.

"

I think it's safe to say that Sid and the promoter will no longer be working together after this incident. Then to add insult to injury, the promoter booked Jay Lethal to replace Sid in the main event. This may not seem that insulting, until this video surfaced of Lethal mocking Sid to perfection.

I will give the promoter kudos for turning this into a positive for his company, as Lethal is the best imitator in the business. So instead of fans seeing a subpar main event, they witnessed the hilarity of Lethal. They also got to see Hardy and Lethal put on a better match than they would have seen if Sid did show.

I wish there was a followup to this story, as I am sure Sid had to change his number relatively quick. In the end, it just goes to show, you have got to be careful who you give your info to. Especially if it's someone you have a good chance of screwing over.
