2012 NFL Mock Draft: Evaluating DraftTek's Latest 7-Round Mock for the Falcons

Scott CarasikMar 19, 2012

Drafttek is one of the premier draft websites out there. Their mission statement:

"

Drafttek is the premier independent NFL draft website on the net. Most mock drafts out there are generated by a sole individual purporting to understand the needs of all 32 NFL teams. At Drafttek, each NFL team has an analyst who assigns positional needs, then a proprietary computer model is employed to generate a 7-round Consensus Mock Draft.

"

Drafttek uses a computer simulation with needs analysis and things called grabs and lockouts in order to make sure the model will be as accurate as possible.

2nd Round Pick: No. 55 Overall

1 of 5

TE Orson Charles - 6'3" 242 - University of Georgia

While Charles wouldn't be my first choice, he's definitely a good fit for the Falcons. He can be a good fit as a long term H-Back role. The recent DUI will drop him on a lot of boards and he could end up dropping lower than this.

Grade: B

The Falcons should go with a different option here and when you look at the draft situation, honestly, I would go with Alshon Jeffery here as a 4th WR option.

3rd Round Pick: No. 85 Overall

2 of 5

OG Amini Silatolu - 6'4" 311 - Midwestern State University

Silatolu is the best value here at the right spot. The biggest need for the Falcons is the right guard spot with the move of Hawley back to the long-term center option.

Grade: A+

Silatolu will be a great fit in the new offensive line scheme and brings a power element to the zone scheme.

5th Round: No. 149 Overall

3 of 5

CB Justin Bethel - 6'0" 200 - Presbyterian College

Bethel is an underrated corner who could be a great fit for the big nickel role with the Falcons. Nolan will love his size and speed combo and his instincts are on a Brent Grimes level.

Grade: A

Great value here as he is a 4th round prospect being selected in the 5th round. Great scheme fits are excellent.

6th Round: No. 181 Overall

4 of 5

LT Andrew Datko - 6'6" 315 - Florida State University

The team needs a left tackle to come in and compete for a starting spot. Datko provides excellent value here as a three-and-a-half year starter. He has some injury concerns but has still rated athletically well at the combine despite the injuries.

Grade: A

Great value, only drawback here is injury concerns and the need is filled to a T with a player who fits in as a Falcons on and off the field type.

7th Round: No. 212 Overall

5 of 5

QB G.J. Kinne - 6'1" 215 - University of Tulsa

The only player I don't like on this group. Kinne is just a solid QB. There are better QB's in this year's draft that I would personally go with over him and that I think the team would go with should they decide to go QB in the draft.

Grade: D-

Bad value and bad postion with the recent re-signing of Redman.
