TNA Impact: Devon as the Television Champion Is a Stroke of Genius
I am liking TNA Impact more and more. Something in the air, the clouds and the universe must be aligned in the right way. Finally, titles are falling into position and the idea to put the Television Championship on Devon is another stroke of genius.
Will we see this title finally get some recognition it deserves? Will Devon Hughes offer the title the respect it deserves? Can Devon, the huge former tag team champion, show he can be a true singles champion?
And shouldn't Devon's win over Robbie E make Bully Ray's blood curdle just a little bit?
It should (which makes for better fodder).
Devon has been lost in mid-card status since the divorce from Bully Ray and the disconnect with The Pope (which has to go down as one of the worst angles in Impact history). This victory, coming through and taking the Television Title, makes for an interesting scenario.
Does this mean The Pope and Devon battle over the title, which means The Pope finally shows he is championship worthy?
Does Gunner come through and challenge Devon? Can't we see someone like Crimson take on the big man and finally capture a singles title?
What happens to Robbie E and Robbie T? They seem like a viable tag team, but they both may be in live to challenge for singles gold.
If he cannot capture world gold, could we see a feud between Devon and his "buddy" Bully Ray?
Is there someone else who could jump out of the crowd and make a name for himself?
So much to do, so much to see, so much to say. You had better testify on this one.
TNA picked a fine time to make a change. With so many contenders for the world title, there weren't enough contenders or challengers for the Television strap. Eric Young made a mockery of it. Robbie E could not be taken seriously. And Robbie T was good for interference.
Maybe, just maybe, the title will become prominent again. And Devon will finally step up and show he is worthy of being a singles champion.
