NFL Free Agent Rumors: Dolphins Must Choose Alex Smith over Matt Flynn as New QB
The Miami Dolphins must decide to make free-agent quarterback Alex Smith their primary target at the position because he is more experienced than other free agents such as Green Bay Packers backup Matt Flynn.
According to NBC Sports, Smith will visit the Dolphins on Sunday as the 49ers attempt to sign former Indianapolis Colts quarterback Peyton Manning to replace Smith.
Flynn has already visited the Dolphins and will make his decision on who to sign with in the coming days.

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
While Flynn and new Dolphins head coach Joe Philbin know each other very well from their days with the Packers, Smith is the best choice for the Dolphins going forward.
Smith has started many games in his career, including all 16 for the 49ers last season, while Flynn has just two career starts. Smith also protects the ball very well and made very few mistakes last season. He proved that he could make the big throws and manage the game.
Last season, Smith threw for 3,144 yards with just five interceptions and a 90.7 quarterback rating. At 27 years old, Smith is only going to get better as an NFL quarterback.
Another reason why Smith is the best choice for Miami is because he knows how to be successful without an elite receiving corps. Smith never had a top-tier receiver in San Francisco, but he was still able to be successful and win games.
Flynn had arguably the best group of receivers in the league over the past few seasons with the Packers, with stars like Greg Jennings and Jordy Nelson making his job easier.
The Dolphins don't have any elite receivers since Brandon Marshall was traded to the Chicago Bears last week.
Smith is more experienced and is just as talented as Flynn, and he is more dependable as well.
The risks with Flynn are just too great. Sure, he's played very well in his two career starts with the Packers, but those two games aren't enough of a sample as a starter to justify giving him tens of millions of dollars for several years.
Smith is the best fit for the Dolphins as they try to find a quarterback of the future and become a perennial playoff contender.
