L.A. Marathon 2012: Route, Start Time, Weather Updates and Schedule
It's time to catch yourself up on arguably one of the biggest sporting events of the year, the 2012 Los Angeles Marathon.
It's an epic race, there's no doubt about it. Year and year it seems to find ways to provide us with story lines, thrilling endings and great champions.
What to expect this year?
Well, let's start with some basics.
Route
Here's a look at the official course map that you can get from LAMarathon.com.
Runners will be going east to west from the inland to the coast.
Start Time/Schedule
Sunday, March 15. Wheelchairs, 6:55 a.m. PT. Hand cycles, 7:00 a.m. PT. All other participants, 7:24 a.m. PT.
Weather Update
Unfortunately, it does not look like it will be the nicest Los Angeles day, and it's definitely not your typical Hollywood weather.
Weather.com has clouds and sun in the forecast until about noon PT, but then it takes a turn for the worst. Starting around 1 p.m., they've got wind followed by heavy clouds and rain.
It doesn't seem to be the ideal day for a run, but this is the part of the sport that makes it so interesting.
Conclusion
We're going to have another good race on our hands. The added weather element is definitely going to make things interesting, but it should also really raise the level of competition.
Here's hoping that first and foremost, everybody is safe. May the best runner win.
