WWE: 10 Ways Eve Is the Next Evil Diva

Sharon GlencrossJun 7, 2018

Ever since she shockingly turned heel on Raw last month, Diva Search winner Eve Torres has quickly become a highlight of WWE programming.

Indeed, in a company where women are frequently under-used and granted little air time, Miss Torres has impressively managed to emerge as one of the bigger, most prevalent characters on the show, cutting lengthy heel promos and interacting with main eventers like John Cena on a regular basis.

At this rate, it wouldn't surprise us if the former NBA dancer ended become one of the most villainous and hated divas of all time.

Not convinced? Well, here are ten reasons why we think Eve is meant for big things in this promotion...

Sex Appeal

1 of 10

With her stunning good looks and curvaceous figure, Torres is guaranteed to catch the eye of any man, anywhere. The way she looks, no wonder she's found herself the focus of lustful attention from stars like Zack Ryder and John Cena in recent times!

And the crafty diva isn't unaware of her charms. In fact, the aspiring femme fatale has noted several times on Raw and Smackdown that she has no problem whatsoever using her looks and power over men to further her profile in WWE.

In-Ring Ability

2 of 10

Unlike the majority of WWE's clueless, botch-prone divas (Aksana, we're looking at you), Eve is actually a very smooth, coordinated and polished in-ring performer.

Indeed, for someone relatively new to the business (she had no wrestling experience at all prior to winning the Diva Search contest in 2007), Eve has improved tremendously as a wrestler in recent years. No doubt her background in dancing and gymnastics helps greatly.

This is yet another reason why Eve will be WWE's next big villainous diva.

While other women, like former WWE diva Maryse, had the charisma and personality to play obnoxious, vain heels, they couldn't back it up in the ring.  Eve, however, is capable performer who will be able to have good matches as a heel champion (if she is ever to win the Divas Championship).

Fans Love to Hate Her

3 of 10

Ever since she turned on Zack Ryder, the conniving diva has been garnering strong crowd reactions during her appearances at house shows and TV tapings. The fans can't stand her and have no trouble letting her know it.

Maybe Eve is just that good a performer..Or possibly many male fans have had experiences with scheming, manipulative girlfriends in their own lives and can thus relate to poor Zack. But either way, the former NBA dancer is on her way to becoming hugely over as a heel.

Her New Rivalry with Kelly Kelly

4 of 10

Unsurprisingly, Kelly Kelly has not taken well to her former best friend Eve's new direction in life. She's confronted her backstage about her recent evil behaviour towards Zack Ryder and John Cena, only to be laughed off and ignored by the diva, who feels she has nothing to be ashamed of.

Kelly and Eve have since engaged in a very public war of words on their Twitter and Youtube accounts, trading catty insults and slurs. As their attacks get increasingly heated, this looks set to be one of WWE's most grudge-fueled female feuds in quite some time.

The two ladies are now set to face off at WrestleMania, as Kelly teams with NBC's Extra host Maria Menounos to take on the team of Eve and Beth Phoenix in a tag team match. No doubt that will get ugly, as Eve and Kelly finally get their hands on each other.

Certainly, a storyline rivalry with a popular babyface like Kelly will help cement Eve's status as a heel in the eyes of the fans.

Her New Alliance with Beth Phoenix

5 of 10

As noted, Phoenix and Eve will be teaming to take on Maria Menounos and Kelly Kelly at this year's WrestleMania event. In forming a new partnership with monster female heel Beth Phoenix, Eve has helped augment her status as a bad guy in the eyes of the fans.

She is also backing up her act with some muscle. Undoubtedly Eve becomes a little more threatening and dangerous just by having the Divas Champion in her corner.

Her Current Storyline with Zack Ryder

6 of 10

We feel genuinely sorry for Zack Ryder.

The YouTube sensation is madly in love with Eve and has made it clear he is willing to do anything to win her heart. Sadly, all the manipulative Eve can do is cruelly use him and toy with his emotions every chance she gets. Not to mention the time she passionately made out with his best friend right in front of him. Ouch.

We don't know where this storyline is going. Maybe Zack will finally see sense and dump Eve in a public and embarrassing manner, reclaiming his dignity and becoming cool again. (For the sake of Ryder's struggling character and diminishing credibility, we sure hope this is the case.)

Until this angle concludes, though, Eve can continue to be hated and loathed by fans as the evil shrew ruining the life of a nice, decent guy.

Her Promo Skills

7 of 10

A clear, concise talker, Eve's arrogant heel promos since she turned have been tremendous. Check out this promo from Smackdown, if you don't believe us. She's one of the few women in the company capable of projecting a charisma and garnering a decent crowd reaction when she speaks.

Her Upcoming Program with Maria Menounos

8 of 10

Eve will undoubtedly benefit tremendously from working with NBC's Extra host Menounos at this year's WrestleMania.

You see, usually women's matches are thrown out on WWE PPV's with little or no thought or planning behind them, but the presence of a celebrity like Menounos will ensure WWE give this storyline a proper build and a decent length of time at the event.

Additionally, it is likely that Eve's mainstream profile will be helped greatly by the Hollywood exposure that comes from working with Menounos. Certainly if Eve is going to pushed as WWE's next top female heel, the company will want her to have crossover appeal.

She Is Far More Interesting as a Heel

9 of 10

Let's face it: as a goody-two-shoes babyface, Eve was incredibly bland and dull. No wonder she barely got a reaction from the fans, most of whom were apathetic towards her. Her in-ring skills were fine, but she simply wasn't interesting enough as a character for fans to properly throw their support behind.

However, this recent heel turn (prior to this she had been a babyface all throughout her WWE tenure) has reinvigorated her. As a vain, arrogant villain, she has blossomed on-screen and now bursts with charisma and attitude.

In fact, she's caught on so well as a heel, it makes you wonder why WWE didn't turn her to the darkside a lot sooner.

She Has the Support of the Booking Team

10 of 10

Alas, WWE tends to ignore their divas for the most part usually relegating them to short two minute matches on Raw and Smackdown or banishing them to internet-only show NXT. You have to wonder why they even bother having divas in the first place since they can't push them as sex symbols (due to the safe PG product) but seem incredibly reluctant to allow them to be wrestlers either.

Thankfully, though, WWE brass seem to be firmly behind Eve, as she and her current storyline with Zack Ryder garners a decent amount of air time every week on WWE television and becomes one of the company's major storylines. Management seem to see something of potential in the Diva Search winner, which has to be a good sign for her future as one of the promotion's top female heels.
