WWE: How Long Will It Take for AJ to Dump Daniel Bryan?

The Doctor Chris MuellerJun 3, 2018

WWE's AJ is many things; a talented wrestler, an attractive woman and someone in a toxic on-screen relationship.

Her current romance angle with Daniel Bryan is doing two things very effectively. The first thing it is doing is making Bryan look like a believable heel. His recent disregard for her feelings has really made some fans despise the once-popular star.

The second thing this angle has done well is to make AJ look like the sympathetic victim. At first, she was the girl who was in love with a boy, but now she is the girl who needs someone to help her break free from a mean boyfriend.

Over the past few months, we have seen Bryan evolve into a cowardly heel who has a mouth bigger than the rest of him. Because of this, he has turned into an abusive boyfriend. He is not physically abusing AJ on-screen, but rather mentally and emotionally abusing her.

He has called her stupid, told her to shut up and used her affection for him to his advantage by having her get in the way during matches so he could hold onto the title he worked over a decade to finally hold.

AJ is gaining sympathy from fans due to the fact that she is still being portrayed as a babyface. Her tirade against Michael Cole one night proved she is still someone the fans can like.

WWE has not had one of these romance angles in quite a long time, and while it is a nice change of pace, we have to wonder how long AJ will stay with Bryan.

WWE creative can only have her stay with him so long before finally standing up to him unless they want to risk having her look like an idiot who doesn't know what kind of relationship she is in.

Last night on SmackDown, we got to see even more evidence that AJ may soon leave, as Bryan made some not-so-nice comments about the attire AJ had chosen to wear for her match.

There was also a moment when AJ kissed Bryan only to have him wipe off his lips as if the thought of kissing her was disgusting.

This angle is effective in making AJ gain fan support and making Bryan gain more heat, but the end has to be near.

WWE has taken more flack for the poor portrayal of women on their product than almost anything else and the smart thing to do would be to have AJ turn on Bryan at WrestleMania and help Sheamus win the World Championship from him.

Having seen some of her work on NXT, I feel she is ready to be on her own in the Divas division, and I think she could be a more successful version of Ashley Massaro.

The two women share some similarities in that they both have a small frame, a history of wearing things with plaid patterns and skulls and a babyface attitude fans can support.

Once she breaks free of Bryan, I could see AJ being a popular Diva all by herself, but the only way that will happen is if her storyline romance ends soon.

What do you think? How long should AJ put up with Bryan and his abusive ways?
