Peyton Manning Rumors: Should Manning Work out for Perspective Teams?

Jason HenryJun 7, 2018

According to a report on ESPN.com, quarterback Peyton Manning worked out for the Denver Broncos and the Tennessee Titans with both teams watching Manning throw the ball and go through routine drills.

Before this story was reported, talk radio and water cooler conversations were ablaze about talk about Manning’s ability to even take a hit. Wait—do regular people still talk around the water cooler?

At any rate, you get my drift. Some fans and pundits thought Manning should have to show and prove himself again. Yes, Manning had won a Super Bowl and is the perennial MVP of the league, but after having his neck cut open four times, he needs to show what he’s capable of doing.

Once his workouts are done for the Titans and Broncos, Manning will more than likely make a decision on his future. It is being reported that his list is down to just three teams: the Titans, Broncos and 49ers. The Cardinals and Dolphins have been informed that Manning will not sign with them, and the 49ers just entered the contest.

Manning wants to control the offense wherever he goes and both the Broncos and Titans have agreed to let him do what he does best. He’s nothing short of a control freak, and if he’s constrained by an overzealous offensive coordinator, I’m not sure he would have a good season.

Now that the Niners are pressing for his services, the Titans may end up being the odd man out.

I believe that before the weekend is done, Manning should have a new contract signed with either the Broncos or the 49ers. I still believe he will pick San Francisco over Denver because of the team’s talent and ability. Plus, the NFC West may be a little easier to navigate than the AFC South.
