Scattered, Smothered and Covered: An Introduction to the SEC Blog

Barrett SalleeJun 1, 2018

Greetings, Bleacher Report. My name is Barrett Sallee, and I am your new SEC football lead writer.  As you probably have already noticed, my new colleagues Adam Kramer and Michael Felder have already kicked off this process in grand style over at Your Best 11, and I hope that my contributions specifically to the SEC will add to their national perspective.

First, some background on me.

SEC football has been in my blood since the day I was born.  I am a native of metro Atlanta (yes, we do exist), who has been going to SEC football games since as far back as my memory allows (which, admittedly, varies from time to time).  I still reside in the metro Atlanta area with my wife and son.  Aside from my passion for SEC football, I enjoy the Atlanta Braves, Southern food and, in particular, cooking on the Big Green Egg.

For the last four years I have covered SEC football for CollegeFootballNews.com, during which time I have had the pleasure of communicating with many of you on Twitter, via e-mail and various other capacities on the world wide net webs.  Prior to that, I have worked various other jobs in the Southern sports media, including in regional television and sports radio.

There are a few college football items that I’m particularly passionate about, which you will notice as we continue down this journey: most notably, the FBS playoff debate.  Just saying that we “need a playoff” is reckless.  A poorly-executed playoff, which I define as one that includes automatic bids for conference champions, would be significantly worse for the sport than the current BCS system.  The goal of any postseason reform should be to A) crown a “true champion” and B) maintain the importance of the regular season.  A Plus-1 accomplishes that, which is as far as any FBS postseason should ever go.

My colleagues and I are going to make Bleacher Report your one-stop shop for all of your college football needs, and my goal is to cover the SEC like cheese on Waffle House hash browns. From game analysis to poisoned trees and everything in-between, you will find it here at The SEC Blog on Bleacher Report.

My goal is to be informative and interactive, and that includes plenty of activity on the comment sections and on Twitter.  If something I write makes you believe that I am full of it, please let me know. I love having college football debates that don't regress into name-calling.

My goal is to bring the same passion to The SEC Blog that all of you bring to your respective fan bases on a daily basis.  In the process, I hope we all have a lot of fun.
