For supporters of these clubs, different emotions will be created by this draw.

For example, AC Milan fans will probably feel slightly unlucky to have drawn Barcelona instead of, well, any other team, while Benfica will feel happy to have avoided Munich, Madrid and Barca.

However, for impartial football fans, this has to be the best draw possible.

The quarterfinals may be a bit duller than normal (I don't see Madrid or Munich losing, but Barca-Milan and Chelsea-Benfica will be exciting), but it's the rounds they set up that are the real beauty of this draw.

What awaits us in the semifinals? A matchup between Real Madrid and Bayern Munich that already has my mouth watering, and a possible rematch of the 2008-09 UCL semifinal, where the world saw Chelsea get hard done by against Barcelona.

And the final?

Could we see another El Clasico, but this time to determine the European champions?

Could we see Barcelona, the favorites, take on Bayern Munich in their own home?

Just those two are hot enough prospects that commentator Ray Hudson is off somewhere changing his underwear.

In a tournament where everything is random, allowing the draw to toss up clunkers and dream matchups in the earlier rounds, this one seems to have set us up perfectly for those awesome matchups on the grandest stage.

Could this have played out any better for us fans?

In short, no.
