Gators in the NFL Report: Divisional Playoffs Weekend
Written by Ryan Collins, Gatorsfirst.com Staff Writer
This is the second in a series of reports covering University of Florida affiliated players currently on rosters in the NFL. Let us hope there will be some to cover during the Super Bowl report. Stay tuned for a 2008 season recap for all the players in their journeys through the National Football League.
Saturday, January 10th 2009 Baltimore Ravens at Tennessee Titans
Ravens: No Gators
Titans: Jevon Kearse (’98 DE) Two Tackles
Analysis: “The Freak,” just like the rest of the vaunted Titan’s defense, registered zero(0) sacks against Joe Flacco and the Baltimore Ravens. A rough outing to take into the questionable offseason for Kearse.
Reynaldo Hill (’04 CB) On Injured Reserve- Hip injury (10/28/08)
Saturday, January 10th 2009 Arizona Cardinals at Carolina Panthers
Cardinals: No Gators
Panthers: No Gators
Sunday, January 11th 2009 Philadelphia Eagles at New York Giants
Eagles: Lito Sheppard (’01 CB) 0 Stats
Analysis: Mysteriously, there is no record of his performance on the Internet. If anyone intently watched this game and has any information feel free to comment. Either way, the Eagles lived on to play next weekend and Lito should be playing(?).
Giants: No Gators
Sunday, January 11th 2009 San Diego Chargers at Pittsburgh Steelers
Chargers: Brandon Siler (’06 LB) four tackles
Analysis: Siler’s four tackles were a season-high, however the rest of the defense could not get it done at frigid Heinz Stadium on Sunday. Caps off a learning-season where he had the second most special teams tackles.
Steelers: Dallas Baker (’06 WR) Practice Squad
Max Starks (’03 LT) One Start
Analysis: Seems like every year at this time, Max is one of the remaining Gators playing the postseason. He got the start for this game and blocked very well, giving Willie Parker 146 yards.
Watch the Conference Championships this weekend to see Max Starks as the Steelers host the Ravens and Lito Sheppard as the Eagles visit the Cardinals.
Any Thoughts?
