How Were the Top 50 2012 NFL Draft Prospects Rated as College Football Recruits?
The 2012 NFL Draft has plenty of star power and big-name prospects to go around. While the two top quarterback prospects, Robert Griffin III and Andrew Luck, are likely going to hog up most of the spotlight between now and draft weekend, there are still plenty of other top prospects NFL teams would love to get their hands on in late April.
This year’s crop of talent is a varied mix of players with diverse backgrounds. Some players have been basically guaranteed a spot in the pros since the day they entered college as elite high school recruits, while other less-heralded prospects have had to work their way up to make names for themselves at smaller, less prestigious schools.
So which of this year’s top draft prospects were high school all-stars, and which ones were high school afterthoughts?
Well, here's a look at how the top 50 prospects in the 2012 NFL Draft class were rated as college football recruits.
1. Robert Griffin III, QB (Baylor)

Robert Griffin III was a three-sport star in football, basketball and track during his time at Copperas Cove High School. As a track athlete, Griffin was one of the top competitors in the nation in the 110-meter, 300-meter and 400-meter races.
On the football field, Griffin was a two-year starter at quarterback. In his senior season, he threw for 1,356 yards and 16 touchdowns, ran for 1,285 touchdowns and 24 touchdowns, and led his team to a 13-2 record and an appearance in the Class 4A State Championship Game.
