Manchester City: A Look Toward Their Remaining Premier League Matches

Manchester City slipped last week relinquishing top spot to the across town rivals, Manchester United. With the English Premier League season racing toward the end, the battle for the top spot is heating up.

Here is a look at the remaining ten games of the season. At this point, every game is a must win if the Citizens are to reclaim and hold top spot. 

The Blues have some big games coming up to finish off the season. The remaining ten league fixtures include teams like Chelsea, Manchester United, Arsenal and Newcastle. Comparatively, the only team battling for Champions League berth is Manchester City on April 30th.  

City will have a lot of work to do and must regain the form they had early in the season. Goals have been tougher to come by since Christmas, despite a wealth of talent on the field.  One thing that looks like a certainty is the return of former captain Carlos Tevez.

Tevez could find his place back on the pitch as early as next week's mid-week clash with Chelsea. Despite a lengthy self-induced exile from the squad, Mancini included Tevez in his 25-man roster after the January transfer window. Tevez is back in Manchester trying to find his fitness and has already played and scored in a reserve game. According to soccernet.com, Mancini has pondered using Tevez as another attacking weapon in upcoming league play. 

City will also have to quickly recapture their play that was so devastating earlier in the season against both big and small clubs alike. The Blues have been frankly unable to score against weaker sides in games they dominate possession. Whatever happened to the 6-1 thrashing of United?  This has become a very different side. A side that gets conned out of their game plan with quick counters and aggressive play.   Mancini must find ways to have his team play and punish weaker sides, until then City will not win trophies. 

Manchester City have the skill, the players and the coach to win; however, they desperately need to find their form again before Manchester United runs away with another title.
