The 10 Coolest Entrances in Sports

Zack PumerantzJun 1, 2018

For those who believe a legend is made on the playing field, think again...many sports heroes have sparked their legacies through pregame rituals and eccentric entrances.

Whether a rocket-armed closer escapes the bullpen to epic classic rock hits or a fierce gridiron defender enters his domain with a ferocious determination to the crackling of fireworks, these athletes continue to write legendary scripts before the game even starts.

It's time to take a look at the 10 coolest entrances in sports.

Head-banging anxiety, crowd-riling anticipation and sometimes-baffling aggression.

Yeah, this crew is quite insane.

10. John Henderson Is Ready to Detonate

1 of 10

We once believed our pre-slideshow routine was unique, but apparently not.

Aside from how to stop a 6'7", 330 lb. mammoth quickly gaining steam, there are a few questions to ask following this presentation.

While we respect John Henderson's inspirational pregame routine, we're curious as to how he got a scrawny—and clearly intimidated—trainer to slap him in the face several times.

9. Owen Schmitt Slams on the Brakes

2 of 10

Perhaps his own worst enemy, fullback Owen Schmitt seems determined to scare his opponents off with a fearless insanity that has yet to truly be matched.

Rarely does this type of injury occur before the game. Take it easy, big guy.

8. Kevin Garnett Gets in the Game

3 of 10

Adjusting his shorts and slamming his head against the basket's base certainly gets the crowd in the game.

Although, we'd like to believe he's deciding whether he has to give in to nature's calls and take a quick jog to the locker room.

Too late.

7. The Legend of Mariano Rivera

4 of 10

While we doubt closer Mariano Rivera listens to Metallica or is an actual Sandman, we're always inspired by his rocking entrance in the ninth inning.

Each one of his 603 saves was secured before he even threw a pitch.

6. Trevor Hoffman Saves Bells

5 of 10

Speaking of closers...

601 career saves and a historic entrance to beautifully coat one "hells bells" of a career for Trevor Hoffman.

For opposing batters, this was certainly an intimidating sight every single time.

5. Flying with Brian Dawkins

6 of 10

We wouldn't be surprised if he was indeed ready "to kill somebody," as a fan so eloquently states during the filming of this memorable prance.

Sure, he's recorded 26 sacks and 37 interceptions in his magnificent career so far, but Brian Dawkins has always been revered most for his fearless nature and exuberance on the field.

Respect.

4. Mike Tyson's Humming Arrival

7 of 10

In trying to ignore the commentator's obnoxious utterances, we're struck by Mike Tyson's intimidating aura, the deafening bass, the crowd roar.

Time for another load of laundry, we're all shaking in our jockeys.

3. Ray Lewis Lets Loose

8 of 10

While jaw-cracking hits and fearless pursuits have headlined Ray Lewis' magical career, it's his pregame shakedown that has fans clinging to their seats before the first snap.

Quite the audition for Dancing with the Stars.

Yeah, they'll be calling soon enough.

2. Usman Ahmed Finds His Groove

9 of 10

While the quick knockout in the end actually came from a different fight (just look at the change in glove color), English boxer Usman "Uzzy" Ahmed has clearly mastered the art of the humorously climactic entrance.

Those red gloves might as well be pompoms or a couple of dripping Bass Ales.

1. Remembering the Air Bulls

10 of 10

Arguably the greatest and most famous introduction of all time, the Chicago Bulls' '90s dynasty theme song continues to ring loudly in the ears of hardwood fans.

We doubt The Alan Parsons Project ever predicted their hit "Sirius" would earn such a permanent spot in sports lore.
