2012 NFL Free Agents: Ranking Best Players Remaining to Start Day 3

Zach KruseJun 7, 2018

A quick run down of the best players remaining on Day 3 of NFL free agency:

QB Peyton Manning

Manning is a Hall-of-Fame quarterback and likely the best unrestricted free agent in the history of the NFL. There are obvious health issues to consider, but Manning is going to make whatever team he signs with in the coming days an instant contender.

OLB/DE Mario Williams

An elite pass rusher at defensive end who looks destined to sign in Buffalo. Guys with Williams' combination of size and skill at such a premium position are hard to find. He's going to be the upper echelon of defensive players in terms of contractual value when the dust finally settles.

WR Mike Wallace

He's a restricted free agent that will take draft picks and a huge contract to pry away from Pittsburgh. Given the way the receiver market has played out, it's appearing less and less likely Wallace will be playing anywhere else next season.

QB Matt Flynn

Flynn has limited experience starting in the NFL but he shined in the few opportunities he was given behind NFL MVP Aaron Rodgers. There are enough teams that need a quarterback for Flynn to find a big contract and a starting job.

DE John Abraham

Pass rushers are gold in the NFL and Abraham is still a player that can get to the quarterback. He's past his prime and I wouldn't give him a long-term deal. For 1-2 years however, Abraham can be a solid addition.

CB Lardarius Webb

One of the NFL's most underrated cornerbacks, Webb received the highest tender available and should be back in Baltimore. Still just 26 years old, Webb deserves to get paid. Is there a team willing to give up picks?

RB Michael Bush

Signing running backs with mileage on the tires is always a risky endeavor. But for a team that needs a power back with a handful of good years left in him, Bush is likely the top option left. Some team will overpay for him.

WR Brandon Lloyd

It was widely expected for Lloyd to sign in New England, but things haven't heated up on that front as of yet. While I still think he lands with the Patriots, some receiver-needy team could jump in and make it interesting.
