NBA Trade Deadline 2012: 5 Teams That Must Go All-in on Deron Williams

Now that it is official that Dwight Howard is staying with the Orlando Magic, it makes perfect sense that the New Jersey Nets would trade top-notch point guard Deron Williams.

It had seemed that the plan was for the two to unite in New Jersey now or after the season. That is out the window, so Williams could end up on another team now that the plan of his team has blown up.

Here are the teams that should go all-in to try and get one of the best point guards in the game.

Los Angeles Lakers

Right now, if they haven't already, the Los Angeles Lakers need to call up the Cleveland Cavaliers, have them hold Ramon Sessions for a bit and then call up the New Jersey Nets to see what they want for Deron Williams.

No offense to Sessions, but in Williams we're talking about an All-Star caliber guy who is one of the best at his position in the game.

If the Lakers could get Williams, they'd be much better suited for a championship run, even if they had to give up Pau Gasol.

Boston Celtics

The Boston Celtics already have a great point guard, but he's not as good as Deron Williams.

Williams would help the Celtics a ton on offense, because he can distribute and score. He's a much better shooter from long range than Rajon Rondo, and if the Celtics could trade two of the Big Four to get him then they should.

Orlando Magic

It was pretty obvious that Dwight Howard and Deron Williams wanted to play together, and New Jersey and Orlando talked extensively about a trade.

However, now the tables have turned. New Jersey is now the desperate as they have a superstar that may leave in the offseason. If I'm them, I'm calling up Orlando just to see what I can get.

If I'm Orlando, I'm offering up anything they want, but Howard.

Dallas Mavericks

The Dallas Mavericks have been clearing cap space for awhile in hopes of getting both Deron Williams and Dwight Howard. While it looks like one of those possibilities is gone, Williams can still be had.

It would much easier for Dallas to just sign him in the offseason. However, they should still be involved in talks now because a guy like Williams could help them win this season too.

Plus, if they show no interest now, Williams might think less of them this offseason.

New Jersey Nets

Of all of the teams that should go all-in on Deron Williams, this one obviously has the most to lose.

The Nets should make it clear to Williams that they are willing to do whatever they have to do to win and try to bring in some help for him ASAP.

It probably won't be enough, but that have to try.
