World Football Gossip Roundup: Andre Villas-Boas, Falcao, Sahin, Berbatov
Andre Villas-Boas to Make Quick Return?
1 of 7Inter Milan crashed out of the Champions League this week, and you know what that means.
Arrivederci, Claudio Ranieri. That's what the rumor mill says, at least.
So, who will the Nerazzurri hire next? According to the Daily Mail, Andre Villas-Boas—and not just because Jose Mourinho coached there first.
No, the former Chelsea boss is really the guy they want. Or is it Walter Mazzarri?
Who can keep up with these things, anyway?
Gary Megson to Wolves?
2 of 7In the not-quite-as-glamorous managerial file, Mirror Football reports Wolverhampton Wanderers are making eyes at Gary Megson in hope that he'll be their next manager and the one to magically turn everything around.
That's despite the fact that Terry Connor has been named interim manager until the end of the season.
Moussa Dembele Wanted by Premiership Trio
3 of 7According to TalkSport, Fulham midfielder Moussa Dembele is wanted by the "big three." That being said, those big three might not necessarily be the clubs you're thinking of.
In this case, big three means Liverpool, Arsenal and Tottenham, the same teams that somehow always seem to be linked to the same players.
Dembele, 24, joined Fulham from AZ Alkmaar in 2010 and would reportedly cost £15 million.
That would probably rule out Arsenal, then.
Dimitar Berbatov Set for Old Trafford Exit?
4 of 7Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has confirmed Bulgarian striker Dimitar Berbatov could leave Old Trafford this summer.
"At 31, he is looking at first-team football," Ferguson said, according to the BBC. "It is difficult for me to guarantee that so it could lead to him looking elsewhere."
Berbatov, 31, signed from Tottenham in 2008 for a reported £30.75 million.
Falcao Tops Chelsea Wish-List?
5 of 7Always the big spenders, Chelsea figure to be busy this summer as owner Roman Abramovich rebuilds the squad for/with his next victim/manager.
According to the London Evening Standard, Chelsea's top target will be Atletico Madrid's Colombian striker Radamel Falcao.
The 26-year-old Colombian, who prefers to be called Falcao, scored 38 goals in all competitions last season for Porto before moving to Atletico in a £34.7 million deal. He has scored 21 times this season in all competitions.
Meanwhile, The Sun is reporting that Portuguese midfielder Raul Meireles is pondering his future at the club after the exit of his countryman and manager Andre Villas-Boas.
That's because, clearly, it's just impossible to play for someone who's not from the same country as you.
Gregg Wylde to Charlton? Really?
6 of 7Former Rangers midfielder Gregg Wylde is a wanted man.
In a list of suitors that reportedly includes Aston Villa, Everton, Bolton and Charlton, one would think Wylde would opt for a Premiership club. Not so, according to Mirror Football.
Apparently, Wylde would turn down Premiership football to play for League One side Charlton because they made the "best cash offer."
Well, that makes perfect sense.
Manchester United Considering Move for Nuri Sahin?
7 of 7Turkish midfielder Nuri Sahin lit up the Bundesliga last season, helping Borussia Dortmund to the title with his creative play. His breakthrough season generated a move to Real Madrid, for whom Sahin has played a grand total of one league match this season.
So, that's probably why Caught Offside is speculating that Manchester United might make a move for Sahin. No potential transfer fee is proffered, though.
