2012 NCAA Tournament Predictons: Players Who Will Blow Up in the Second Round

Jesse ReedJun 7, 2018

You can't place a value on players who shine the brightest when the pressure is on.

Make sure you keep an eye out for three players who are primed to blow up in the second round of the 2012 NCAA tournament.

Perry Jones III

Jones III is ready to make his mark.

After surprisingly deciding to return to Baylor for his sophomore season, he's starting to finally come on strong after not really making much of an improvement from last year's showing.

Over the course of his last five games, Jones III averaged 18 points and 10 rebounds and played very well against a couple of the best teams in the country.

He's just getting started, though. He will improve upon those numbers against the lowly South Dakota State Jackrabbits, who don't have a single player on their roster that will be able to slow him down.

Jared Sullinger

Sullinger is a classic banger. At 6'9" and 260 pounds, he is a dominating presence in the middle for the Ohio State Buckeyes.

Their second-round opponent, Loyola, doesn't have anyone capable of keeping him out of the lane, either. This leads me to believe he's going to have a massive game when the two teams square off.

Sullinger averaged almost 18 points and just over nine rebounds per game during the regular season.

You should expect to see those numbers take a massive spike in his second-round matchup with the Greyhound, especially considering that in the last five game he's averaged 22 points and 10 rebounds per game.

It is going to be a blood bath.

Michael Snaer

Snaer is another player that has come on strong to end the season. He's ready to continue his strong play as Florida State does their best to make it into the Final 4.

In Snaer's last five games, he averaged 18 points a game and is shooting well over 50 percent from the floor. He's also been shooting over 50 percent from the three-point line during this latest stretch, a trend I see continuing well into the tournament.

Florida State plays against the St. Bonaventure Bonnies in the second round. The Bonnies are a terrible rebounding team and are ranked 118th in the nation.

The Seminoles, on the other hand, are ranked 52nd in that same category, meaning that Snaer and his teammates will get plenty of second chances.

Snaer will blow up for more than 25 points in this second-round matchup.
