Pau Gasol Trade Rumors: Is Pau the One Who Wants Out of LA?

At the beginning of the season, the Los Angeles Lakers made a deal with the New Orleans Hornets to deal big man Pau Gasol in a three-team trade with  the Houston Rockets. The Rockets have tried to put together another attractive package for Gasol, but so far the Lakers haven’t been impressed. Early this morning, ESPN’s Rick Bucher came onto The Herd, Colin Cowherd’s show on ESPN.

Bucher began to tell Colin how it may not be the Bulls who want Pau, but rather that Pau is the one who wants out of LA.

Previously, it was reported (h/t Sheridan Hoops) by many sources that Derrick Rose told Bulls management that he wanted to play with the Spaniard. As of yesterday the Bulls were actively trying to put together a deal that the Lakers would agree to. Unfortunately, the main player Chicago would be willing to trade for Gasol is Carlos Boozer, who the Lakers aren’t interested in. 

Where Bucher got his information from is unknown as he did not state his source, and it’s not being reported elsewhere in major media outlets. However, this could be true. When Lamar Odom found out he was traded without so much as a phone call, he voluntarily requested a trade, which landed him with the Dallas Mavericks. Pau may have quietly expressed his desire to leave as well, despite putting on a positive face in public.
