Pau Gasol Trade Rumors: Likeliest Landing Spots for Lakers' Star
Pau Gasol trade rumors have been swirling and continue to swirl.
Will he stay or will he go?
That appears to be a jump ball at this point. If he goes, where are the likely destinations?
We'll examine the likeliest landing spots right here and discern where Gasol could soon be taking his talents.
Chicago Bulls
While the Lakers and Bulls have yet to see eye-to-eye on a deal, there's still a chance a Gasol-to-Chicago deal occurs.
If a third team expresses interest in this, it's very possible, but that third team will have to give the Lakers a promising player, because the Bulls are unwilling to part with too much from their roster.
While things aren't lining up perfectly with this, something could still very likely get done. When there's a will, there's a way. Don't be surprised if the Bulls find a way before the deadline strikes.
Minnesota Timberwolves
Gasol could land in Minnesota if the T'Wolves are willing to give up Michael Beasley and at least one (or two) other promising young player(s), potentially Nikola Pekovic, although that might be a deal-breaker for Minnesota.
A more realistic package for Gasol would be Beasley, Martell Webster, Luke Ridnour and a draft pick.
If such a scenario intrigues the Lake Show, then Gasol could be heading north to Minneapolis.
Houston Rockets
The Rockets and Lakers could've had a deal, but the Rockets have been unwilling to include Kyle Lowry in a package for Gasol.
What's undisputed is the interest in this deal, but similar to the Gasol-to-Chicago scenario, a third team will most likely need to get involved.
If this happens, which is very plausible with the Lakers seeking to make moves, then Gasol could very likely wind up in Houston.
Boston Celtics
The Lakers have apparently rejected a Gasol for Rajon Rondo swap, but they may want to reconsider. They're most likely not going to find a better player to receive in return for Gasol than Rondo.
Such a reconsideration could lead to a deal, but Boston is not quite as likely of a destination as the previous three teams. But you never know.
