Tim Tebow Trade Rumors: Jacksonville Jaguars Say They Are Not Interested in QB

David LevinMar 15, 2012

Tim Tebow may be coming to Jacksonville today, but it is not to talk about football. At least that is what the story on Jacksonville.com is saying.

Tebow will return to his hometown on Thursday but will be there for a very special reason. He will be there to open the first of his foundation's "Timmy's Playrooms," which he envisioned as places of hope for children battling life-threatening illnesses.

With all the speculation about Peyton Manning making a move to Denver, any football fan could see that Tebow's appearance in town could mean more than what it is for. Tebow emphatically denies he will be in town for anything else besides the charitable event.

Another story on Jacksonville.com written by Jaguars beat writer Tania Ganguli earlier in the day on Wednesday stated that while he is a hot-button topic in the NFL, the team has not considered making any kind of inquiry about Tebow.

So where does the former Florida great stand? Right now he is still the starting quarterback for the Denver Broncos unless otherwise noted or a decision is made.

All of the speculation started last week when Peyton Manning met with Broncos team president John Elway. It was then rumored that if Elway was able to sign Manning, Tebow may be jettisoned somewhere. The logical place would be his hometown in Jacksonville.

At the University of Florida pro day on Tuesday, Jaguars head coach Mike Mularkey put the rumors to rest.

"

"Way too many things going on to worry about who’s getting slotted where and who’s going where," Mularkey said. "That has not even been a discussion. Really, there’s nothing you can do until 4 o’clock today cause they're all players for other teams so you really don’t want to get into that."

"

Because Manning is still meeting with other NFL teams and no decision has been made yet as to when he would sign with another team, all Tebow can do is assume he is still the starting quarterback. And in doing so this also means until a change is made, teams such as the Jaguars will not be able to really do anything concerning the situation unless they inquire about a trade for him.
