Brazil v. Italy Tops February Must See Games

David WilsonJan 13, 2009

It is not very often that a friendly tops Champions League games, but that is the case in February with Brazil playing Italy at the Emirates. Here is a look at the ten biggest games in February

Feb 1 Liverpool v. Chelsea
After losing to Manchester United at the weekend, Chelsea cannot afford not to pick up at least a point at Anfield. Liverpool know that a win could push Chelsea out of the title race.

Feb 11 Brazil v. Italy at the Emirates
The match, a repeat of the 1994 World Cup final, matches two nations who have won an incredible nine World Cup victories between them. Brazil have made seven World Cup Final appearances in their history, winning five, with Italy winning four of their six World Cup Final appearances, including their victory in the last tournament in Germany in 2006.

Feb 11 USA v. Mexico
This is the opening game for both countries in the final round of CONCACAF qualifying. Mexico looked shaky on its travels in the last round and it will be interesting to see how they play in what will be a packed (and cold) pro-US crowd.

Feb 11 Spain v. England
International friendlies for England have taken on more importance for England under Fabio Capello. This game not only matches the reigning European Champions and a hot England team. The game could also see LA Galaxy (AC Milan?) star David Beckham tie Bobby Moore’s record of 108 caps for England.

Feb 15 Inter Milan v. AC Milan
El Clásico is one of the great derby’s in football. David Beckham has played in some of the biggest derby’s in football (Real Madrid v Barcelona, Man United v Man City and LA Galaxy v Chivas USA). It will be interesting to see how he compares the atmosphere of Derby della Madonnina to the other big games he has been in.

Celtic v. Rangers
One of the other great rivalries in football is the Glasgow one between Rangers and Celtic. At the moment Celtic are five points up on Rangers, and you would anticipate that Rangers will have to win this game if they have any hope of winning the SPL this year.

Feb 24 Inter Milan v. Manchester United and Arsenal v Roma
These are two very intriguing games between Italy and England. The Inter Milan v Manchester United game brings the Special One back to England. Jose Mourinho has a fantastic record against Sir Alex and this will be a much harder game for United than most pundits think.

Roma v. Arsenal is a fascinating game between two very inconsistent teams. If both teams play at the level they can, this will be great match-up.

Feb 25 Chelsea v. Juventus and Real Madrid v Liverpool
These are two more intriguing games. First you have a struggling Chelsea team against their former coach Claudio Ranieri. This game is four weeks away for Chelsea who have time to get their team ready for this game. Juve are in second place in Serie A and with are led by Amauri their big-money signing from Palermo,

Real Madrid and Liverpool matches two of the most successful clubs in Europe. Between the two of them they have won the European or Champions league an amazing 14 times between them.
