Peyton Manning Rumors: The Latest Speculation on QB's Landing Spot

Could you make a case that Peyton Manning is holding the NFL hostage in taking his time to make a decision about where he wants to play football next season?

While the four-time MVP is weighing his options and looking at the best fit for him, other teams may be in a holding pattern, waiting on that decision. And in some cases, missing out on one of the other key free-agent quarterbacks and not getting Manning could set a franchise into a tailspin.

Now, there is a new fly in the ointment as the Tennessee Titans have been said to be interested in Manning, according to the Washington Post.

Manning was released last week and then began his cross-country tour of NFL towns in Denver, followed by Arizona and then Miami (Dolphins officials came to Indianapolis to meet with Manning).

Teams like the New York Jets and Washington Redskins were eliminated from the mix after the Redskins traded for the second pick in the April Draft to select Robert Griffin III and the Jets extended current starter Mark Sanchez's contract.

So, with four teams still entrenched in the "sweepstakes," it really is anyone's guess who comes out the front-runner. Each can offer Manning something different.

But the idea that Tennessee has jumped into the mix may mean the team is looking for something more than it has right now with Matt Hasselbeck and second-year pro Jake Locker.

According to the Star-Advertiser in Hawaii, Titans owner Bud Adams made it known Sunday he will do whatever it takes to sign Manning to get back to the playoffs and win his team's first Super Bowl.

Adams told The Tennessean he had talked to Manning's agent, Tom Condon, asking for a visit with the quarterback.

Manning's dad, Archie, has ties to playing for the Houston Oilers, the team that was formerly the Tennessee Titans. There is also a link to head coach Mike Munchak, who played with Archie. This looks like it could sway the balance of power.

Manning has not given a time table yet as to when he will make a decision.
