Tim Tebow: Why Broncos Must Keep Tebow for Insurance

Jesse ReedJun 7, 2018

The Denver Broncos need to keep Tim Tebow in the fold in case Peyton Manning goes down.

By all accounts the Broncos are going to trade Tebow if they land Manning, a decision they would end up regretting.

What seems to be lost here is that there is no guarantee Manning is even going to be available to play once the season starts.

He is still far from regaining his full arm strength, and there is no way of knowing if or when his strength will return.

"

So far, so good, said a source with one of the many teams that is interested in signing Manning. The question is still where is it going to stop, but the progress over the past month has been steady and that’s what you’re looking for.

Another thing that isn't being talked about is the fact that Manning hasn't thrown for any of the teams he's visiting.

The Broncos, like every other team interested in Manning, are going on faith that he will be able to perform like he always has in the past.

So, what happens if Manning either can't perform when the season starts or ends up getting injured? Who do the Broncos currently have on their roster that could come in and win games?

Adam Weber?

The Broncos need to take a look at the bigger picture here.

After all, it wasn't too long ago that John Elway was singing Tebow's praises and telling everyone he would go into 2012 as the Broncos' starting quarterback.

Manning-mania has made people go crazy in the head.

The Broncos need to keep Tebow on their roster whether they land Manning or not. Tebow is a proven winner, despite being the most unorthodox quarterback of his era.

There is too much uncertainty surrounding Manning, and they would be foolish to abandon the man who led them on their improbable playoff run a year ago.
