WWE Raw: Brodus Clay Makes Return to Television, Will He Be Pushed?

Last night on Monday Night Raw, Brodus Clay made his return in another of a long line of squash matches. This time his victim was Jinder Mahal, who seemed to be getting a push a few weeks ago, only to job to Clay last night.

Clay seemed excited to be back and he and his dancers showed no signs of slowing down the dancing anytime soon. The main concern many fans have is, how long can the character last when his matches are shorter than his entrance and celebrations?

The things about Clay is he is a different kind of gimmick than WWE has had in recent years, and it is almost a call back to the colorful characters that once littered the WWE locker room. Guys like Flash Funk and the Godfather come up when thinking of similar gimmicks.

Brodus Clay is a huge powerhouse who has the potential to be the WWE's next monster superstar, but if he continues to have no direction and just dances for the crowd, then he will end up being used in the worst possible way.

Having seen some of his other work on YouTube, I can understand WWE's resistance to putting him in longer matches, but sometimes the best way to learn is trial by fire.

People need a chance to succeed before you can say they failed, and Clay has not really had that chance yet. His short-lived stint as Alberto Del Rio's bodyguard did not pan out and we did not hear from him for months.

This could be his last chance to make it in the WWE, and I think part of the responsibility lies on WWE for booking him this way. When you say to someone, "Go out there and do your finisher right away and squash this guy," you are saying that you don't think they can carry a match.

I look forward to Brodus Clay getting the chance to really show what he is made of down the line.
