Denver Broncos Should Concentrate on Tim Tebow and Forget Peyton Manning
By now, some of you Denver Broncos fans are probably getting sick of me. Just think, I have to deal with myself every minute of the day. But I digress.
You probably already have an understanding that I am against the Broncos making a play for Peyton Manning. There are multiple reasons as to why I have come to this conclusion, but let my point out a few of them for you.
Loyalty Still Means Something

Projecting Every NFL Team's Starting Lineup 🔮

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
Tim Tebow isn't your prototypical starting quarterback; this is already well-documented. He is going to look absolutely horrible at times and butcher this position unlike most before him.
He isn't John Elway.
What Tebow does bring to the table is character and leadership. These are two things that are hard to gauge on the outside, but prevalent when it comes to the atmosphere of the football team. There is something to say about continuity within the locker room. Tim Tebow brings this big time.
The former first-round pick also led Denver to an amazing late season playoff run and victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers in the postseason.
Just look where the Broncos were before Tebow took over for Kyle Orton. They were sitting in the cellar of the AFC West with a 1-4 record. Things were looking bleak at best.
Tebow ended up winning seven of his 11 starts and leading the Broncos to the AFC West Championship. In doing so, he proved to a skeptical audience that he can perform and win in the National Football League.
I fully understand that football is a business, this isn't completely lost on me. There comes a time when front offices have to make difficult decisions, sometimes callous ones. This isn't one of those times. John Elway and Co. need to show loyalty to Tebow after he brought them back to respectability in the league. Remember, we are not too far removed from this franchise being irrelevant.
Use the Money Somewhere Else
According to Mike Florio over at Pro Football Talk the Broncos sit at nearly $45 million under the salary cap. This money would be better served at other positions of need.
In fact, the Broncos could field a much better team if they signed a couple top-tier free agents rather than doling out half of this money to Manning.
Denver needs upgrades at center, wide receiver, defensive tackle, corner and possibly safety. There are a tremendous amount of solid players available at these positions.
An upgrade at each of these positions would make the Broncos a clear-cut favorite to win the AFC West and possible conference championship contenders.
One Hit and Done
Lost in all the Peyton Manning talk is the fact that he has had multiple neck surgeries over the course of the last calendar year. This cannot be taken lightly.
One hit and Manning's career is over. Is this a risk that the Broncos should be willing to take? After all, it is pretty clear that they would be trading Tebow if this situation plays out. Who does that leave as their primary backup?
Logistically speaking, it doesn't make much sense to me.
