Draft Sleeper Watch: Western Kentucky CB Derrius Brooks Runs Reported 4.29 40
SI.com's Tony Pauline, CBSSports' Rob Rang and Bleacher Report's Bo Marchionte used the slow pro day news cycle to dig up some impressive workouts from the past week.
Washington State LB Alex Hoffman-Ellis with a 4.54 40, 36 bench press reps of 225, and a 36.5" vertical. Pauline called him a "smart and tough football player who will do well on special teams while backing up at outside linebacker."
Syracuse CB Kevyn Scott whose 40 was in mid 4.3s at 5'10" and 201 pounds. Pauline said teams love Scott's athleticism, but they'll have to make him a "consistent football player."
Columbia OT Jeff Adams, who was at Northwestern's pro day, and ran a 5.11 40 with a 34.5" vertical a 6'6" 308.
Western Kentucky CB Derrius Brooks, who reportedly ran a 4.29 and 4.35 40-yard dash.
Ohio LB Noah Keller, who ran a 4.56 40 and posted a 37" vertical and 28 bench press reps of 225 at 6'1" 245.
Marchionte's Sleepers
Northern Illinois LB Pat Schiller, with a 4.20 shuttle, 3-cone 6.96, 35" vertical jump, 9'7" broad jump and bench pressed 225 pounds 22 times and 4.68 40, according to Marchionte.
Kent State WR Sam Kirkland, who tied a combine record with a 45" vertical and also benched 225 pounds 21 times at only 5'10" 195.
