Tim Tebow Rumors: Why Dolphins Should Trade for Broncos QB

Jason HenryJun 7, 2018

As Tim Tebow mania has come to a close in Denver, a new reality for the franchise is coming to fruition: Former Indianapolis Colt Peyton Manning may become a Denver Bronco.

If that is the case, the city of Denver can say goodbye to Mr. Tebow. Manning is by no means a long-term solution for Denver, but he is better than Tebow right now. Denver has a solid defense and a decent enough offense to make some noise in the playoffs.

But if Manning decides to sign with the Broncos, where would Tebow end up? What team should look into trading for the former Florida Gators star?

I think I have a solution: the Miami Dolphins. The Dolphins are high on signing Manning and seem willing to do almost anything to get him. If they fail in convincing the star quarterback, who owns a home in the Miami area, to sign with the team, the Dolphins should look into trading for Tebow.

For the sake of the team, including ticket sales and publicity, there are more than a few reasons why team owner Stephen Ross should pull the trigger.

The Tim Tebow Factor

I do not believe in such a thing, but there are fans and pundits who believe that Tebow has something different and special that he brings to the field. How else can you explain that playoff victory against the Steelers or that comeback game against the Dolphins?

If that fan base, or the team for that matter, believes in such a thing, then I say trade for him. If Tebow can improve the Dolphins by at least two wins in 2012, then I stand believe that a trade for the controversial quarterback is worth it.

Ticket Sales

All teams need money to thrive and survive, and the Dolphins aren’t exactly the biggest draw in town anymore. With the Miami Heat leading the way and the new-look Miami Marlins trying to make noise, the Dolphins are in danger of fading far to the back of the pack.

Adding a player like Tebow would immediately bring some “oomf” to the team. He’s tough, aggressive, physical and willing to learn.

If we’re talking just ticket sales, I believe that this is a no-brainer. He did graduate as a Gator.

The Dolphins Need a New Quarterback

I thought that Matt Moore played well last season. He had 16 touchdowns and nine interceptions with over 2,400 yards passing.

The Dolphins have a new head coach who will probably want his own quarterback. If that that is the case, then there will be a need to start over.

Tebow will bring flair, attention, maybe a few more wins and the support of his teammates.

The bottom line regarding the Dolphins is that the team needs a shot in the arm. They aren’t that far away from truly competing if they have a good quarterback. Some may think that Tebow can’t provide that for the Dolphins, but he does not turn the ball over and tries to make the smart football decision.
