Printable NIT 2012 Bracket: Latest Tips and Predictions

Predicting the winners of the NIT is not an exact science.

The No. 1 seeds, who are typically the last teams to get their bubbles burst, don't usually make it far in the NIT.

The disappointment level is strong and the urgency just isn’t there. Wichita State won it last year as the No. 4 seed and Dayton took home the title as a No. 3 in 2010.

With that in mind, here are three teams that may not possess a No. 1 seed, but have a strong chance of cutting down the nets at Madison Square Garden.

No. 3 Oregon (22-9)

The Ducks run a motion offense that can confuse opponents that aren’t familiar with them. They are a perimeter-oriented squad that still can pound the ball into the post while limiting their turnovers.

They were snubbed by the NCAA committee because they couldn’t beat the good teams. Well, since all of the good teams are dancing, the Ducks are more than capable of beating four straight mediocre teams.

No. 4 Mississippi State (21-11)

The Bulldogs truly fell apart in the second half of the season and now have a chance for redemption. They have two explosive scorers in Arnett Moultrie and Dee Bost and both are capable of exploding.

Moultrie was one of the biggest transfers of the year and is one of the top three players in the entire tournament.

No. 4 Oral Roberts (27-6)

The Golden Eagles have won 20 of 22 games, are ranked 11th in the nation in field goal percentage (48.7) and feature a 20-point-per-game scorer in Dominique Morrison.

They were one of the biggest snubs of the entire field, so expect the mid-major to play with a major chip on their shoulder after blowing their chance in the Summit League conference tournament.

Prediction: Add No. 1 Tennessee, who has too much talent not to win their first two games, to the list and we have a final four with a No. 1 seed, a No. 3 seed and two No. 4 seeds.
