March Madness 2012 Predictions: Vanderbilt and Cincinnati Are First-Round Locks

Alex KayMar 12, 2012

March Madness is one of the best times of the year for gamblers as there is so much action packed into such a short amount of time.

You can view and print the bracket right here if you have yet to see the field.

Upsets are frequent and moneyline backers of underdogs can get paid big bucks. There are also some teams that simply will not lose in the round of 64 and promise to cash tickets if you lay some scratch down on them.

Here is a look at two of those teams that might not be obvious at first.

Vanderbilt

The Commodores are hotter than any team in the nation right now and are coming off a huge win against the Kentucky Wildcats. They are only the second program to beat that powerhouse this year.

As the No. 5 seed in the East Region, Vandy is set to play No. 12 Harvard and will absolutely decimate them. This team has two proven scorers in John Jenkins and Jeffery Taylor that will crush the Crimson.

Make sure you make this play unless the spread turns out to be absolutely preposterous.

Cincinnati

The No. 6 seeded Bearcats have an extremely winnable game against the Texas Longhorns and are coming off a second-place finish in the Big East tournament.

It isn’t often that a team that went deep in that conference gets knocked out in the round of 64, and it won’t happen in 2012.

The Longhorns most likely deserved an NIT appearance but somehow lucked out with the selection committee and got a No. 11 seed based on reputation.

Cincy is the lock here and a play you must make.
