Grading All Key Philadelphia 76ers' Trade Possibilities
Earlier in the day, I posted an article about five trade possibilities for the Philadelphia 76ers before or on Thursday.
This article is a follow-up piece which grades each of those possibilities.
The Sixers have put themselves in great position by winning so many games early in the season and now are in position to have home court for the first round of the playoffs. Perhaps a move will help get them to the next level.
Spencer Hawes and Thaddeus Young for Josh Smith
1 of 5This trade gets an A-.
Josh Smith is an All-Star level player who uses his athletic ability to make plays on the court. He can shoot and play defense. He is also very fast. The Sixers would be giving up two starters to get him, so it would be very fair on both ends.
Thaddeus Young and Lavoy Allen for Greg Monroe
2 of 5This trade gets an A.
Monroe is a future All-Star and is only in his second year. The Pistons would be getting a starter in Thad Young and Lavoy Allen has shown lots of promise. Another plus for the Pistons would be that this is a two for one deal and the Pistons would get Allen, who would help them for the future.
Spencer Hawes and a First-Round Pick for JeVale McGee
3 of 5This trade gets a B+.
The Wizards would get the upper hand in the deal because of the first-round pick and Hawes is still a relatively young player (although near the same age as McGee). It would be more of a change of scenery for McGee, who has spent his entire career on the losing Wizards.
Elton Brand, Spencer Hawes and Two First-Round Picks for Dwight Howard
4 of 5This trade gets a C.
The Sixers would be giving up a lot to get Dwight and be giving up their starting center and power forward as well as two first-round picks for the best center in the league. Dwight is also going to want to get paid but that should not be an issue since Brand has the biggest contract on the team. Still, it is a positive trade because Howard gives the Sixers a better chance to win.
Thaddeus Young and Two First-Round Draft Picks for Kris Humphries
5 of 5This trade gets a C-.
The kicker in this deal is the two first-round picks the Sixers are giving up.
Humphries is playing at an all-time high right now and the Sixers will have to hope he continues to keep at that level with their squad. Humphries is more useful to the Sixers now than Young, who although has played with the current team longer, does not have the statistics that Humphries does.
