Deron Williams Injury: Latest Updates on Nets Star's Injury

Bradlee RossJun 3, 2018

In a regular season game against the Charlotte Bobcats on Friday night, New Jersey Nets point guard Deron Williams suffered a sore right calf and had to leave the game in the second quarter.

The injury also kept him out of the Nets game on Saturday against the Houston Rockets.

This is not a good development for a Nets team that has basically nothing to hang its hat on this season but the play of Deron Williams.

Williams is an elite point guard in this league, and his absence will make the Nets even worse than they already are.

Update: Wednesday, March 14 10:30 a.m. ET

According to Colin Stephenson of The Star-Ledger, Williams will miss his third-straight game tonight.

Update: Monday, March 12 11:45 a.m. ET

According to Stefan Bondy of the New York Daily News, Williams will miss yet another game tonight against the Milwaukee Bucks:

According to ESPNNewYork.com, Williams originally aggravated the calf in the All-Star game in Orlando, then re-injured it against Charlotte on Friday. Williams is listed as day-to-day and his injury will be revisited on Tuesday.

This injury is big for the Nets and their fans because, despite New Jersey's lackluster record, they are still less than five games out from a playoff spot.

Despite this recent injury news, all most fans are discussing in relation Williams is what team he'll end up with long-term.

Williams is clearly one of the biggest free agents heading into the 2012 offseason, and the quicker he gets back from injury, the quicker he can go back to proving that game in and game out.

This season, Williams has averaged 22 points, eight assists, 3.5 rebounds and 1.2 steals per game, making this the best scoring season of his career.
