Viral Video of the Day: Sergio Busquets' Ankle Bends, but Doesn't Break

Michael CummingsMar 12, 2012

Is Sergio Busquets the footballer who cried wolf?

This time, Busquets wasn't diving. Next time, who knows?

In the past, Busquets has made a habit of, shall we say, embellishment? Either that, or he's just a plain ol' faker—and a bad one at that.

Now that I've angered all the Barcelona supporters, let me draw your attention to this video. In this clip, Busquets is not diving. In fact, his leg is nearly snapped in half.

That's Khouma Babacar trampling on Busquets' ankle during Barcelona's game against Racing Santander on Sunday in La Liga. Barcelona went on to win the game 2-0, but not before Busquets experienced a scary incident.

As you can clearly see, he's not acting.

Fast forward to the 0:40 mark to see Busquets' ankle bending in unnaturally. That's no dive.

You wouldn't know it, though, from the way Busquets reacts. Sure, most footballers roll around in agony when they're hurt, but Busquets has made that his catch-all reaction.

In fairness, this isn't the first time Busquets has suffered a legitimate injury. Back in February, a hard tackle by Real Sociedad's Carlos Martinez opened up a gash on the Barcelona midfielder's knee.

Babacar didn't earn a red card for this challenge. He deserved one, but how could the ref have known for sure?
