2012 NBA Trade Deadline: 3-Team Blockbusters for Lakers, Celtics & Rockets

Lakers Trade: Pau Gasol, Luke Walton, Jason Kapono, Darius Morris, Devin Ebanks and the Lakers and Mavs #1 Picks

Lakers Receive: Rajon Rondo, Kevin Garnett and Patrick Patterson

This trade solves a multitude of problems for the Lakers and is one that General Manager Mitch Kupchak should consider seriously.

While losing Gasol would hurt, replacing him with Garnett and the young banger Patrick Patterson lessens the pain.

Adding all-world point guard Rajon Rondo makes losing Gasol well worth it. Period.

Many Lakers fans will cringe when they see their two first round draft picks being sent to Boston in this deal, however, one can think of this trade as breaking down as follows: The Mavs #1 pick for Patrick Patterson, Luke Walton and the three little used expiring contracts along with the Lakers #1 pick for Kevin Garnett, and Pau Gasol straight up for Rajon Rondo.

This is a no-brainer trade for the Lakers.

CELTICS TRADE: Rajon Rondo and Kevin Garnett

CELTICS RECEIVE: Kevin Martin, Jonny Flynn, Hasheem Thabeet, Knicks, Mavs & Lakers #1 Picks

The Boston Celtics need to start looking forward to the future and apparently they don't consider Rajon Rondo a part of that future due to his attitude ad personality, however he is a marvelous talent and they need to get as much value as they can if they decide to deal him.

It doesn't get much better than this trade.

Trading Kevin Garnett for Hasheem Thabeet and the Knicks #1 draft pick is about as much as the Celtics can realistically expect to receive for the "Big Ticket".

Trading Rondo for talented young point guard Jonny Flynn, All-Star level shooting guard Kevin Martin and both the Lakers and Mavericks #1 draft picks this year is a great haul for Boston.

This trade would give Boston a starting shooting guard for next season, two young players filled with potential that they could choose to extend if all goes well, and with the three #1 picks in this deal, a total of five first rounds picks in this year's draft, which has been said to be the deepest draft since 1996.

There is no reason not to believe that Boston couldn't use one of those five picks to draft a solid role player and then package the other four picks to move up in the draft and nab two starters.

ROCKETS TRADE: Kevin Martin, Patrick Patterson, Jonny Flynn, Hasheem Thabeet and the Knicks #1

ROCKETS RECEIVE: Pau Gasol, Devin Ebanks, Darius Morris, Jason Kapono and Luke Walton

Earlier this season the Rockets apparently offered the Lakers Martin, Patterson, Goran Dragic, Luis Scola and the Knicks first round pick in exchange for Pau Gasol in the doomed Chris Paul fiasco.

This trade would have the Rockets simply exchanging little used third string point guard Flynn for Scola and is therefore a no-brainer trade for the Rockets.
