2012 NFL Free Agent Predictions: Where Each QB After Peyton Manning Will Land

David LevinMay 31, 2018

They are all waiting for the right moment. The moment when they can take their talents aboard, much like Peyton Manning and show NFL teams what they can do when the pressure mounts and a win is needed.

Such is the life of an NFL quarterback.

And these quarterbacks can fling it all over the field. There are plenty of teams who are in need of someone to get them past mediocrity and toward the post season.

So when Peyton can decide where his "place" will be in the NFL and things calm down for a split second, NFL general managers will turn their attention elsewhere. Here are some high profile passers who will land somewhere and hopefully make a difference.

Kyle Orton

Does he stay in Kansas City with Romeo Crennel and compete with Matt Cassel?

I happen to like Orton and his ability to manage a game. He is not flashy and he does have the ability to toss the long ball.

If he does not stay in Missouri, look for Cleveland to make a run at him or someone like Jacksonville where he would compete with starter Blaine Gabbert.

Matt Flynn

He has a nice arm and was a mega star the final game of the season.

Flynn has been sitting on the Packers bench bidding his time. And when he comes in to a game, he is instant magic. Hopefully that translates to something special.

If the Dolphins do not land Peyton Manning, he figures to wind up in south Florida. But Seattle and Cleveland could also become players as well.

Jason Campbell

He looked good in his time as starter last season in Oakland.

But he lost any chance of starting this season when the team traded for Carson Palmer.

He could back up in a city like Jacksonville or challenge in Arizona or maybe go to Cleveland, the team that took him our with the fractured collarbone.

Isn't that irony?

Alex Smith

He takes a team to the NFC Championship game and now is a free agent.

You would have figured the team would keep him for all the success he had last year,

That jury is still out. And for all the things Smith did right, there is still a prevailing thought it was a one-time wonder.

Meanwhile Colin Kaepernick sits on the bench waiting his chance to play. I still think when it's over, unless Cleveland makes a play for him, he winds up back in Northern California.

Vince Young

No one is talking about him, but Young could be a major player in free agency.

He signed a one-year contract last season with the Eagles, threw for 400 yards in a loss and proved at times when Michael Vick was injured that he could still play.

But, in my opinion, he is not a starter and he is not a long-term solution. I think he re-signs with Philadelphia or finds a home as a backup in some place like Dallas.
