NCAA Women's Basketball Bracket 2012: Why Baylor Bears Will Conquer All
Nobody is going to be able to stop Brittney Griner and the Baylor Bears from running through their bracket and capturing the 2012 NCAA women's basketball title.
They are just too good.
No disrespect to the rest of her team, because they are great, but it's Griner that makes this team so unstoppable.
Do you think it's a coincidence that her Bears haven't lost a game this season? Do you think I'm just pulling a name out of a hat and hoping that they run through the tournament?
The simple answer to both of those questions is no.
The Bears are the best team in the country, and that's because Griner is the best player in the country. She dropped an astonishing 45 points in the semifinals of the Big 12 Tournament, and played a role in getting her team over Texas A&M to win the Big 12 and remain undefeated at 34-0.
Even through all the success though, both Griner and her team remain focused on the bigger picture, and that added to their talent makes them extremely dangerous. Check out these post-game quotes via the Associated Press on NCAA.com:
"“We’ve been winning all season. We’ve been successful. This is great,” [Odyssey] Sims said, “but now we’re focused on six games. That’s what we’re striving for.”
That’s how many games it will take to win the program’s second national title, and the number it will take to become the first men’s or women’s team in major college basketball to go 40-0.
“These next six games, you know – we enjoy the celebration. We love the hats and everything,” Griner said, “but we have six more games.”
"
What is more dangerous than the best team in the nation led by the best player in the nation?
A focused and motivated team.
Unfortunately, for any opponents who happen to find themselves in the Bears' way, they happen to have that focus and motivation.
All it takes is six more games and this team is on its way to a second national title. It would also be the first time any women or men's basketball team goes 40-0 in major college basketball according to the AP report.
Do you really think you're going to get in Griner's way?
Griner and the Baylor Bears are going to conquer the 2012 NCAA women's tournament.
