Rating the Latest Manchester City Transfer Rumours

Sam TigheJun 7, 2018

The summer transfer window isn't far away, and the newspapers and agents are busy dreaming up stories.

Manchester City officials and scouts never sleep, despite the club being involved in a close Premier League title race and within a good shout of winning the UEFA Europa League.

Roberto Mancini will not rest on his laurels when it comes to improving his squad in both quality and depth.

Here are five players linked with transfer activity in and out of Etihad Stadium. Have a look to see who might be on the move.

Out: Carlos Tevez

1 of 5

It's ludicrous to continue the speculation over Carlos Tevez's future.

He's just returned, apologised and scored for the reserves. You'd think the media would give him a month to work out just what his future will be?

Not a chance. The Mirror are reporting that AC Milan will look to take Carlos Tevez on in the summer, possibly reuniting him with compatriot and former teammate Javier Mascherano.

It's too early to tell where the long-term future of Carlos Tevez lies, and all will be decided over the course of the next ten games.

In: Daniel Sturridge

Unbelievable.

Daniel Sturridge's exit from Manchester City pre-dates Roberto Mancini's arrival, but it's crazy to think they could have the audacity to ask for him back.

Well, according to The Daily Mail, that's exactly what they'll do.

Having lost him to Chelsea on a tribunal fee of what seems like peanuts now, the Citizens have asked to be kept up to date on contract developments between the two parties.

He'd obviously be a great addition to the team, but it would come at one hell of an expense and a degree of embarrassment.

Out: Sergio Aguero

3 of 5

According to The Telegraph, Real Madrid have yet again expressed their interest in Sergio Aguero.

They weren't able to acquire him before because he was plying his trade for close rivals Athletico Madrid.

If anything, that task is now even harder, considering he plays the most upwardly mobile club on the planet.

It seems that Gonzalo Higuain will be used as potential bait to entice the transfer, but that wouldn't be enough. Sergio Aguero is one of the best in the world, and City would be mad to get rid of him.

Lets hope this doesn't turn into a transfer saga as it would be a waste of everyone's time.

In: Robin Van Persie

4 of 5

This one definitely has legs.

Robin van Persie is a logical target for Manchester City as they may look to secure the Premier League's most consistent goal scoring talent.

The Dutchman has scored an astounding 25 goals in 26 Premier League games, making him the country's top scorer and possibly the most valuable player.

He's been haunted by injuries in the past, and this kind of goal scoring record has always been a possibility. He's had a healthy season, and Arsenal are reaping the benefits.

I'd be sceptical of giving someone with such an overwhelming injury record a £220,000-per-week wage packet, but if he stays healthy, he's a must buy. The Daily Mail reckons this one's all set to go ahead.

In: Matias Suarez

5 of 5

Every top Premier League club has been linked to Anderlecht starlet Matias Suarez.

He'd probably fit in nicely at Manchester City as if they do need to shore up a position or two. Winger would be a position Roberto Mancini could look at.

With the stability of Adam Johnson's City career unknown, Suarez could be a sneaky addition to the squad and provide excellent depth.

Let's hope he's nowhere near as controversial as his namesake, Luis.
