NBA Trade Rumors: What Experts Are Predicting for Bucks' Brandon Jennings
Brandon Jennings hasn't been the subject of many trade rumors of late, but there is a chance the Bucks star will be on the move.
Milwaukee has reportedly put center Andrew Bogut on the block, and it has brought about quite a few potential takers.
One such rumor, according to the Racine Journal-Times (via HoopsHype), could have an immediate impact on Jennings:
"I’ve heard the Bucks have been offered a “young, All-Star type point guard” for center Andrew Bogut. If that is true, and the Bucks took up that offer, would that mean current point guard Brandon Jennings could be jettisoned as well? Yes, it would.
"
Jennings made it no secret that he's eyeing a move to a bigger market when he finally becomes a free agent in 2014.
The second-year star was quoted by ESPN a month ago, saying:
""I am going to keep my options open, knowing that the time is coming up,'' Jennings said in an email interview. "I'm doing my homework on big-market teams."
"
At only 22 years old, the star guard has a ton of trade value. Knowing that he will likely leave when his contract is up, the Bucks can turn around and get the most they can for him now.
Jennings is averaging 18.9 points, 5.6 assists, 3.4 rebounds and 1.5 steals in 35 minutes per game.
Trading away both Jennings and Bogut would certainly hurt this team, but they're not going anywhere fast at 16-24.
Moving the oft-injured Bogut isn't a bad move, especially if they can fetch a "All-Star type point guard" in return.
Although they already have one in Jennings, they can't guarantee they'll have him for very long. Moving him now, before he has a chance to leave for free in two summers, is actually a smart move if they receive just compensation.
Knowing how many teams want point-guard help in this league, the Bucks would foolish not to consider it.
