Gulfstream Racetrack: Grade 3 Herecomesthebride

One of the feature races at Gulfstream is the $150,000 Grade Three Herecomesthebride for three-year-olds. The field of nine contains quite a bit of talent, but I'm going to concentrate on three horses.

Dayatthespa is the morning line favorite at 2-1 and for good reason. Chad Brown has a talented horse that is coming off a great win on January 22. Javier Castellano was aboard Dayatthespa in the romp, in which she won by nearly two lengths in 1:34.2.

Northern Passion is the second choice, currently at 3-1 and is lightly raced on the turf, with just two previous starts. In her last race, Northern Bride went five wide and came up short at Tampa Downs. This horse can improve off that race and win this race.

At 12-1, Almusafa is clearly not getting enough consideration. I think this horse can win this race and I will be using her in all wagering. Kiaran McLaughlin trains this horse and John Velazquez is aboard.

She's two for three in her career, with the one loss being understandable because she was steadied early.

What makes this race really hard to predict is the absence of early speed. With little to no front-runners, the two favorites should struggle to close. Almusafa is the classic stalker, so the lack of pace won't hurt her as much.

Frolic's Revenge might end up on the lead but she won't be pushing the pace.

In the end, Dayatthespa seems a little better than Northern Passion although the moderate weight swing between them could neutralize the discrepancy in talent.

No horse in this field has ever raced at nine furlongs but I still think the two favorites, with Almusafa will be the three horses that are fighting for victory. Dixie Strike will fill out the superfecta.

I won't be shocked if these young but talented horses posted a time of 1:49.2.
