NFL Rumors: Denver Broncos Give Peyton Manning Best Shot at Winning Super Bowl

Patrick ClarkeMar 10, 2012

The Denver Broncos give four-time NFL MVP Peyton Manning the best shot at returning to the Super Bowl and ultimately winning his second NFL championship before he calls it quits.

The recently released free-agent quarterback met with the Denver Broncos on Friday, according to ESPN and multiple other sources

The Broncos would not only hand over a playoff roster to the 35-year-old Manning, but also the opportunity to add proven pieces and familiar faces thanks to their $43 million in cap space,  according to the South Florida Sun Sentinel's Omar Kelly.

Although Denver seems like a dark-horse candidate to land Manning based on all the chatter surrounding the Miami Dolphins, Washington Redskins and Arizona Cardinals, the recently reported trade sending the No. 2 pick (and most likely Robert Griffin III) to DC eliminates the Redskins from the Peyton picture.

No team in need of quarterback, outside of the San Francisco 49ers, can offer Manning as solid a shot to win upon arrival than the Broncos, who managed to squeak into the postseason with Tim Tebow under center.

Then comes the cap space, which could be used to acquire some of Manning's favorite old teammates, like Kelly mentions.

The Colts are dumping veterans at a rapid pace, and that means weapons such as released tight end Dallas Clark and free agent wide receiver Reggie Wayne are on and soon-to-be on the open market.

The Denver defense is also improving, thanks to the emergence of young talent and the leadership and coaching of a mastermind like John Fox.

Sure, the weather in South Beach is unbeatable, and Manning is familiar with Miami, but the Dolphins cannot promise Manning nearly as much as the Broncos, who play in a very winnable division in the AFC West.

The Cardinals' offensive line is in shambles and gave up a tremendous amount of sacks in 2011, 54 total, 30 of which resulted in the flattening of banged-up starter Kevin Kolb, who played in only nine games.

Although the Tebow supporters do not want to acknowledge it, Denver is the best destination for Manning in 2012, and the Broncos give the future Hall of Famer the best shot at winning another Super Bowl.
