NBA Rumors: Andrew Bogut Would Be Solid Building Block for Woeful Wizards

With the exception of John Wall, the Wizards need to clean house. They are a franchise in disarray, and need to start looking for new building blocks if that can come in and change that. Andrew Bogut is one of those players. 

So, the Wizards fans have reason to be pleased, at least according to Marc Stein of ESPN.

Sources say that the Washington Wizards are among the teams to express the strongest interest in Bogut, which might be another indication that the Wiz are prepared to part with the enigmatic JaVale McGee, if not before the deadline than during the offseason.

There are a few reasons to be excited about that. JaVale McGee and the Wizards need to part company, so you have that to build around. 

But just as important is the fact that they Wizards are looking to bring in Bogut. This is a move that Washington has to follow through on, as it would give them a solid center to build on. Take a look at some of the vital career numbers.

That is a player at a vital position that does a lot of things well. Also, unlike a person like McGee, there are no character issues to work around. 

No, we're dealing with a solid contributor that you can build talent around. He is good enough to attract draw the opposing team's big men to him, meaning he can clear the paint and allow someone like Wall to attack the basket. 

In the modern NBA, you don't need the classically dominant center. No, the only thing you need is a big man that does a good job getting tough points and boards, which describes Bogut perfectly. 

With Wall in place, Bogut manning the paint, and another high draft pick sure to come this season, the Wizards will have a solid foundation to build on. They can bring in other free agents, or continue building through the draft. 

The point is that another solid piece would be in order. Best of all, he's not a guy with character issues. Washington has been doomed by players like McGee, who bring a lot of flash and very little substance. They need to start looking to bring in the opposite kind of players, especially in the paint. This means that going hard for Bogut is essential.
