ACC Tournament 2012: Top Players to Watch for in Each Quarterfinal Match

Eric BowmanJun 7, 2018

The 2012 ACC Tournament is in full swing, and the elite players will finally hit the court in Friday's quarterfinals.

It's March, so everyone will be amped up and ready to deliver for their respective team. Anything can happen this time of year, but one thing's for sure: The best players will not disappoint.

That being said, here are the top players to watch for in each quarterfinal matchup.

North Carolina vs. Maryland

Harrison Barnes is the best player for the Tar Heels, but in this game, it's Tyler Zeller to keep any eye on.

In his last game against Maryland, Zeller dropped 30 points. It was senior night, and he definitely made the most of his last game at North Carolina.

The first time he played against Maryland this season, Zeller scored 22 points. Look for him to continue his hot streak against the Terrapins, leading the Tar Heels to the next round.

Virginia vs. North Carolina State

The Wolfpack have C.J. Leslie, but the guy to watch is Virginia's Mike Scott. The senior forward is a dynamic force for the Cavaliers, and he's going to be tough to stop tonight.

Averaging 17.9 points and 8.3 rebounds on the year, Scott will put up solid numbers against a North Carolina State team that has had its fair share of ups and downs this season.

Scott is on fire right now, scoring 35 and 28 points in his last two games. His hot streak will continue, as the Cavaliers prevent the Wolfpack from pulling the upset.

Duke vs. Virginia Tech

Austin Rivers gets all the hype and love for the Blue Devils, but the player to watch out for in tonight's game is Mason Plumlee.

With Ryan Kelly out, Plumlee has to step up and be the top big man for the Blue Devils. Duke has the size advantage, but it definitely takes a hit with Kelly not being on the floor.

Plumlee will have to crash the boards hard and turn his game up a notch to help Duke get the victory.

Florida State vs. Miami

The Hurricanes have to win this game to increase their chances of making it to the NCAA tournament, but they're going to have a difficult time slowing down Michael Snaer.

The Seminoles top player is going to light it up against Miami, just like he has both times he played against them this season.

Snaer is a terrific shooter that will put Florida State on his back, carrying the load and leading them to victory.
