Peyton Manning Likes Good Service, Don't Throw Beer at David Beckham: BR5 3/9

BR5Mar 9, 2012

Welcome to BR5—your source for sports and pop culture news.

Today's episode of BR5 gets you up to date on everything from Peyton Manning's wait service to a Yankees box-ing injury.

Peyton overtips a waiter and then the waiter gets fired. Amid all the speculation of where Peyton Manning will play next, people forget the guy's got to eat and when he dines out, he apparently tips like a baller. The currently unemployed QB left 200 bucks, in addition to the 18 percent auto-grat on a 740-dollar dinner tab. That's a handsome three hundred thirty three dollars and twelve cents, if you're keeping count.

It should have been a great night for the waiter at Angus Barn Steakhouse in North Carolina. But Jon the waiter decided to brag about his good fortune and Manning's generosity and a picture of the signed receipt started circulating on the Internet. Needless to say, his bosses weren't too happy and they reportedly fired him almost immediately.

After a fan in Toronto reportedly tossed a beer can at David Beckham during a Galaxy game, Becks promptly did what he does best. No, he didn't prance down a runway wearing a sarong, he bent a sweet corner kick into the box and Landon Donovan popped it in to tie the game with Toronto FC.

Another day, another snapshot of an athlete's junk on Twitter...maybe. Demarcus Cousins says the junk in question is someone else's and says the young lady who posted the picture is pretty much a liar. If Cousins gets his way, he and Ms. Asia Monroe will meet again in court. For Cousins sake, let's hope he's telling the truth.

How low can you go? Jose Canseco is trying to find out. The former slugger and famed PED user is now banned from the Mexican Baseball League. You may ask, why would the man who wrote books about being a cheater and using banned substances get tossed from playing baseball? Well, league officials say he was using a banned substance, testosterone this time.. Canseco is uncharacteristically denying the charges.

Yankee reliever David Robertson is temporarily sidelined. The cause of his injury? Picking up empty boxes. Last year's breakout star, who boasted an ERA of just over one, took a tumble down the stairs of his house while carrying two empty boxes. He's now likely to miss the next couple of weeks of spring training. He says fellow reliever Mariano Rivera already mocked his clumsiness and skipper Joe Girardi has advised him to just kick the boxes down the steps next time.
