Could Florida Gators Fans Have It Any Better? Thanks to Tim Tebow, They Will
As of Sunday, Jan. 11, 2009, Tim Tebow has decided to return for his senior year and last season as a Florida Gator. After winning a National Championship in 2006 and a Heisman in 2007, Tim finished off this season strong with another Championship title to add to his résumé. Many Gator fans thought he would enter the draft after an outstanding career at the University of Florida, but Tim chose otherwise.
With Mr. Tebow returning, this puts the Gators in a great situation. They will most likely be preseason No. 1 and will bring back the majority of their starters (since they are mostly underclassmen.) But they might suffer with the probable loss of Brandon Spikes and Percy Harvin.
College football will be thirsting for new quarterbacks to step up after this year's draft. Sam Bradford and Matthew Stafford will be entering the draft next year, which could leave the door open for the Gators. Oklahoma's offense will be depleted, and the Bulldogs will enter the season with two great losses.
Tebow will have another rare opportunity to lead his team to a National Championship and can possibly earn himself another Heisman. There is no question here—the Gators offense will be tough to stop once again.
Not only will Tebow be a nuisance to defenses, he will become a nightmare once again to coaches. They have had two years to try and stop Tebow and have been unsuccessful. Who knows, maybe third time's the charm, but I doubt it.
Tim brings so much more to the team and the entire Gator Nation than anyone has before. When you think of Florida, Gators, Superman, Jump Pass, and College Football, you think of Tim Tebow. His story reaches beyond the boundaries of the locker room.
Not only does Tim carry an amazing presence on the field, outside of it is where he truly shines. You may have seen the special on Tim Tebow on SportsCenter about his Spring Break trip to the Philippines 20-some odd times, but it never gets old. It is hard to get tired of seeing a person who excels in the stadium do so much more than others outside of it.
Tim is not just an inspiration to athletes—he is an inspiration to everyone (even if you're an Oklahoma or Ohio State fan). What Tim goes out and does every Saturday is what a lot of other players do. But not many can reach deep within themselves and pull out that extra something in that key third and short as Mr. Tebow can.
The return of Tim Tebow is a dream come true to Gator fans and should be to all fans of college football. Even if you're not a fan, just watching Tim should get you excited.
So for all those people who dismiss the idea of him being the greatest college football player ever or him being able to make it in the NFL, he's coming back, and he's looking forward to proving you wrong.
