Cadillac Championship 2012 Leaderboard: Legit Golfers You Can Expect to Move Up
The leaderboard for the 2012 Cadillac Championship is going to look a ton different by the end of the tournament.
Right now, on day one, such names as Adam Scott, Thomas Bjorn and Steve Stricker find themselves at or near the top of the pack. Believe you me, once the final day comes around, it's going to be a whole new ballgame.
There are a few huge players in this tournament that you should expect to quickly move up the rankings.
Here are a couple of names to look out for:
It only makes sense to start with the best that the sport has to offer. He is nowhere near the Tiger of old, but it's important to note that he is slowly but surely regaining some of his form.
He really needs to start working on his putting game if he wants to bring it all together, and this Championship is a good place to start. He showed us last week at he Honda Classic that he's got what it takes to compete until the end.
It may take a bit longer than we'd be used to, but eventually Woods is going to find himself in the hunt.
Rory McIlroy:
There is not much the "Boy Wonder" can't do on a golf course, and he's undoubtedly got to be feeling pretty hot right now after out-dueling Woods for the win last week at the Honda.
He never really could live up to the hype that he created with his epic showing at least year's U.S. Open, but things are starting to swing back into McIlroy's favor.
There's an old baseball saying: "Water always finds it's own level."
I believe the same will be true of McIlroy, as he's starting to show his excellent form once again.
There's a reason I'm listing a bunch of pretty recognizable and trendy names. You recognize them for a reason. As long as Mickelson is swinging a golf club, I'll have to consider him one of the bigger players in the field.
He's been playing pretty good as of late, so don't be surprised to see him make a run.
Luke Donald:
Donald is personally one of my favorite players, and there is no way I could leave the world's No. 2 ranked golfer off of this list.
Like I previously stated, he's No. 2 for a reason. He's got an excellent and well-rounded game, and I can never count him out.
