ACC Tournament 2012: Non-North Carolina NBA Prospects Who'll Shine

David DanielsJun 5, 2018

UNC’s entire roster is practically going to the NBA.

Making an ACC’s-best list would unintentionally turn into a ranking of the Tar Heels’ starting roster.  Instead of allowing that to happen, here are the top non-North Carolina pro prospects who’ll run the 2012 conference tournament:

4. Ian Miller

In his second season with the Seminoles, Miller made great strides, increasing his scoring totals to 10.8 points a game even though he only plays 24.0 minutes per.  If he continues to progress at that rate he’s going, the point guard is expected to be a first-round pick in 2013.  Oh yeah—and he’s clutch.

3. Mason Plumlee

The Duke junior power forward is a mid- to late-first-round prospect in this upcoming deep draft class.  Plumlee is an athlete, and at 6’10”, 235 pounds, he’s a beast on the boards. This season, he’s averaging 11.0 points and 9.2 rebounds per game.

2. Alex Len

The 7’1”, 225-pound Maryland center out of Ukraine is a bit of an unknown at this point in his career, but his name will be known soon enough. In limited minutes, Len is averaging 6.2 points, 5.5 boards and 2.1 blocks this season for the Terrapins. In the 2013 draft, he’s a potential top-10 selection.

1. Austin Rivers

Doc’s son will be a highly sought-after first-round pick if he decides to declare this season or next. The 6’4”, 200-pound 2-guard is averaging 15.2 points in his first season under Coach K. This year, Rivers reaffirmed his reputation as a lights-out shooter, effortless penetrator and crunch-time killer.
