Big East Tournament 2012 Bracket: Remaining Teams with Best Shot at Upsets

Eric BowmanJun 7, 2018

The 2012 Big East Tournament is heating up, and there is nothing greater than watching the underdog shock everyone.

As for the remaining games, only a couple of them have potential to be big upsets.

Since the Big East is the toughest conference in the country, one should always expect the unexpected.

With that said, here are teams with the best chance to pull off the upset.

No. 5 Georgetown vs. No. 4 Cincinnati (2:00 p.m. ET)

Once UConn and Syracuse finish their game, these two will take the court in what should be a very intense battle.

The Bearcats won by four points the last time they played, which was all the way back in early January. Both teams have improved since then, so expect another great game.

In the end, the Hoyas will walk away victorious, proving that they never needed that extra bye in the first place.

Jason Clark and Hollis Thompson will put the team on their back, leading the way to a close win over Cincinnati. Georgetown has the confidence to win big, and the Hoyas will make sure it happens against Cincinnati.

No. 7 Louisville vs. No. 2 Marquette (7:00 p.m. ET)

The odds of this upset happening versus the Georgetown game aren't as high, but that doesn't mean Louisville can't pull it off.

The Cardinals put up a decent fight against Marquette earlier this season but weren't able to come out on top. Since this is tournament time, they'll turn up the intensity and give the Golden Eagles all they've got.

Marquette is the better team, and they should win this game, but Louisville is a team you definitely don't want to count out.

No. 6 USF vs. No. 3 Notre Dame (9:00 p.m. ET)

This is just to show you that the Fighting Irish play the Bulls late Thursday night. The chances of an upset are very, very small.

Notre Dame is a far better team than South Florida, and they're going to cruise in tonight's game.
