March Madness 2012 Predictions: Bubble Teams That Will Be Disappointed on Sunday

Wes ODonnellMar 8, 2012

The Big East is no longer the only major tournament in full swing and pretty soon we'll see a number of bubbles burst across the country.

However, that won't officially burst until Sunday, when the selection committee announces the full field for the 2012 NCAA tournament.

Some bubbles have already burst, but others are still in play.

Come Selection Sunday, it won't matter. These three teams will be on the outside looking in.

Seton Hall (Big East)

The Hall had a great chance to making something happen in the Big East tournament, but they dropped the ball against Louisville in the second round.

There is still a chance the Pirates get in by the grace of the committee, but they can't do anything more about it.

Typically, with this many days remaining before the committee announces their choices, things don't go well for teams that have been idle for so long.

If and when Seton Hall is left out of the big dance, they have nobody to blame but themselves.

Arizona (Pac-12)

Nobody in the Pac-12 has a guaranteed spot in the tournament, so conference tournament wins are a must for everyone.

The Wildcats, at 21-10, take on UCLA tonight—a team they split with during the regular season—and cannot afford another loss.

The loss to Arizona State to end the season damaged this team terribly. If they fail to make a run to the Pac-12 title game, they'll find themselves disappointed come Sunday night.

Texas (Big 12)

The Big 12 has been one of the more exciting conferences in the country this year, but Texas has been a middle-of-the-road team at best.

They have the potential to catch fire, but they also have the potential to implode.

Tonight, they take on an Iowa State team they split with during the regular season. Even a win here may not be enough to elevate them to a tournament appearance.

Their chances could come down to a semifinal showdown with Mizzou. If that is the case, they'll be sorely disappointed.
