NFL Rumors: Peyton Manning and Reggie Wayne Package Could Happen

There have been rumors for weeks that Peyton Manning and Reggie Wayne could end up playing together on a new roster next season. Those rumors can officially be placed in the reality column.

The Miami Dolphins have needs at quarterback and receiver and could be in the market for both guys.

What's more, as we've seen, teams in Miami aren't above making big splashes in free agency.

During a radio appearance on WQAM on Wednesday, Wayne claimed that finishing his career in Miami with his long-time quarterback would be a "storybook ending."

Can't argue with that logic, but teams like the Washington Redskins, Arizona Cardinals and Cleveland Browns could all also look to snag both guys. 

However, Miami makes the most sense as a destination. Manning has a place down there, he has been working out in the area, and of the teams mentioned, the Dolphins are the most well positioned to compete immediately. In addition to that, Wayne played college ball at the University of Miami and will probably be pushing his four-time MVP signal-caller to head to South Beach.

Wayne and Manning have been a prolific duo since they started playing together in 2001. Until this season with Manning on the sidelines, Wayne had 787 receptions for 10,748 yards and 69 touchdowns in 157 games. 

While nothing is set in stone, it wouldn't be surprising if Manning and Wayne do indeed end up playing for the same team next season.
