An Important Note from Your Arsenal Co-Community Leader

First off I must state that these statements are entirely from Maire Ofeire and have in no way anything to do with our other highly respected community leader, Shyam. In fact I have not even consulted him I am writing this.

I started writing for Bleacher Report roughly four months ago and have throughly enjoyed the experience.

The enjoyment for me is not based on people seeing my work or feelings but the level of intelligence on the site and I mean this whole heartily. It is important for me to share my views and have others reply with intelligent comments whether they agree with me or not.

I am an avid Arsenal fan but yet can share intelligent debate with Spurs fan Willie Gannon without team loyalties getting in the way. The exact same can be said for Liverpool fans Barney Corkhill, Jamie Ward and David Gore, Manchester United's Salaar or Chelsea's Salomon.

People here seem to be able to look at football and debate it in a way that is leveled headed. Some like myself have very set views on matters but I feel we all argue our point without resorting to petty comments and insults.

This brings me to the point of this article.

Arsenal have not been playing well lately and I need not go into anymore detail except to say that an absolutely awful term has emerged and took hold in cyberspace.

It is of course the dreaded "AKB" or "Arsene Knows Best" tag.

I have had this term leveled at me on a number of occasions and in my mind it is beyond the bounds of stupidity. It is ok on Arsenal blogs or forums as generally people go to ones that suit them best. However I feel it has no place on Bleacher Report as this is meant to be a place of intelligent debate not name calling.

If I, or anyone else, feels Arsene Wenger is doing a good job keeping this team up at the top of the table and I give relevant statements to back that up, then I have every right to do so.

Furthermore, if I or anyone else feel the need to criticise him then no harm is done as long as the argument is viable and is backed up with something else than "he is selfish and won't spend $50000million on bringing Rory Delap to Arsenal".

Resorting to calling those who support the Arsenal manager an "AKB" is childish as it is childish to call those who may feel need to criticse him a "non Arsenal fan".

Please can people make their arguments without resorting to such school yard behaviour.

There are a number of writers on this site (some new some old) who don't seem to have an opinion but are only on here to criticise other people or call them petty names.

While I am an avid writer here on Bleacher Report and thoroughly enjoy it, I am afraid to say if this place becomes another site that descends into "AKB" anarchy I will have to remove myself from it.

You may say, good riddance to bad rubbish, but I for one prefer good intelligent debate to childish name calling.
